It is important to have insurance on home and auto to help you recover from a hurricane. But most important is being prepare – so here is a great hurricane-checklist.
Water
Store water in plastic or other non-breakable, containers; Store one gallon of water for each person for each day; Keep at least a 3-day supply of water per person as well as any pet in your house.
Food
Store a 3-day supply of food that is non-perishable. This food should not need refrigeration, cooking and little or no water;
Canned milk, juices and soup
Staples such as sugar, salt, pepper
Foods those are high-energy such as peanut better, jelly, crackers, trail mix, granola bars
Foods for infants, elderly people special diets and don’t forget to stop up food for pets
Comfort/stress foods: hard candy, cookies, sweetened cereals, instant coffee
Bedding/Clothing
Sunglasses
Blankets or sleeping bags
One complete change of clothing/ footwear per person
Work boots or sturdy shoes
Rain gear, hats and gloves
First Aid Kit
3-day supply of all prescriptions
Adhesive bandages, roller bandages, gauze pads, and safety pins several sizes
Petroleum jelly or other lubricant
Cleansing soap
Non-prescription medications like aspirin as well as non-aspirin pain reliever, anti-diarrhea meds, and antacids
Two pair latex gloves
