Hurricane Checklist – Know What You Need to Have

It is important to have insurance on home and auto to help you recover from a hurricane. But most important is being prepare – so here is a great hurricane-checklist.

Water

Store water in plastic or other non-breakable, containers; Store one gallon of water for each person for each day; Keep at least a 3-day supply of water per person as well as any pet in your house.

Food

Store a 3-day supply of food that is non-perishable. This food should not need refrigeration, cooking and little or no water;

Canned milk, juices and soup

Staples such as sugar, salt, pepper

Foods those are high-energy such as peanut better, jelly, crackers, trail mix, granola bars

Foods for infants, elderly people special diets and don’t forget to stop up food for pets

Comfort/stress foods: hard candy, cookies, sweetened cereals, instant coffee

Bedding/Clothing

Sunglasses

Blankets or sleeping bags

One complete change of clothing/ footwear per person

Work boots or sturdy shoes

Rain gear, hats and gloves

First Aid Kit

3-day supply of all prescriptions

Adhesive bandages, roller bandages, gauze pads, and safety pins several sizes

Petroleum jelly or other lubricant

Cleansing soap

Non-prescription medications like aspirin as well as non-aspirin pain reliever, anti-diarrhea meds, and antacids

Two pair latex gloves

Moistened towelettes

Scissors

Sunscreen

Vitamins

Antiseptic

Tweezers

Important documents

Store these in a waterproof, portable container

Wills, insurance, contracts, stocks and bonds, family records

Passports, immunization records, credit card and bank account numbers

Inventory of valuable household items and important phone numbers

Tools and Supplies

Paper plates and cup plus plastic utensils

Battery-operated radio, extra batteries

Flashlights, extra batteries, whistle

Cash or travellers’ checks, change

Non-electric car opener, utility knife

Matches in waterproof container
